Barrett never really got going while with Auburn due to an ankle injury. He actually headed to Wesson, Mississippi to play for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in May.

Barrett was the No. 6 dual-threat QB in the Class of 2016.

Following spring practice with the Tigers, it appeared as though Barrett was destined to fall to fourth on the depth chart for Auburn. It is largely used as the main reason as to why he transferred out of the program as quickly as he did.

A member of the 2016 recruiting class, ESPN actually had the gunslinger listed as the 86th best overall talent coming out that season. Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, and a handful of other programs, all recruited Barrett heavily out of high school.

This is obviously a huge get for Kent State.

Kent State actually the hiring of Sean Lewis as its 22nd head football coach in December. Bringing in Barrett is a big deal for Lewis, as he attempts to bring Kent State to the next-level.

Lewis was the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under Dino Babers at Syracuse.
