Martinez asked to be removed from Thursday's game after he reported he wasn't feeling well. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters after the game, "He got cold sweats, dizzy and his heart was racing. It got to a point where he felt he couldn't go." He also called it something that  is "more scary than a general baseball injury."

Martinez was taken to the hospital and CBS Sports reported he may stay on Friday as well.

Martinez, 38, was hitting  .261/.337/.376 with five homers on the season. In addition to the five all-star appearances, he's a two-time (2004 and 2014) Silver Slugger Award winner as a designated hitter.
