When Jorge Masvidal (31-11) stepped into the Octagon with Jake Ellenberger (31-12) Saturday night for UFC's Ultimate Fighter Finale, neither opponent figured their bout would end the way it did.

Ellenberger and Masvidal were trading blows for much of the first round, when the former appeared to have and advantage and threw a kick. Ellenberger's kick missed and his foot got stuck in the cage. As he was trying to get his foot out, he suffered a handful of shots to the face, which referee Herb Dean took as the fighter being unable to defend himself.

Ouch.

Dean would rule the fight over, as a TKO victory for Masvidal.

UFC Senior Vice President Marc Ratner explained in more detail what led to the stoppage.

What a bizarre finish.
