Three days after he buried his mother, this former NFL All-Pro has died at only 47

Cary Blanchard, a former all-pro kicker with the Indianapolis Colts, died Tuesday of an apparent heart attack, just days after losing his mother. He was 47.

Blanchard's ex-wife, Mindi Blanchard, said he died unexpectedly from what she believes was a massive heart attack, CBS Sports reported. He died in Mabank, Texas, where his mother's funeral took place three days earlier. Reportedly, an autopsy has not been performed yet.

Blanchard was a standout player at Oklahoma State. He became an All-Pro in 1996 and 1997 while with the Colts. He entered the league in 1992 with the New York Jets, and played briefly with the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals. He retired after the 2000 season with a 77.1 field goal percentage.

Blanchard is survived by his son, Blake and Blake's wife, Tia, his daughter, Bayli and his son, Braeden.
