Another win for Cleveland.
Cleveland-native Stipe Miocic (15-2) took on Alistair Overeem (41-14) in an absolute war that ended with the challenger getting knocked completely out.
Miocic won the heavyweight belt back in May, knocking out Fabricio Werdum in the first round, and he ended Overeem in the same round.
After Miocic got rocked early in the first round, he traded heavy blows with Overeem throughout the contest. Eventually, though, it was Miocic's ground-and-pound that finished the fight.
Overeem was the last man to beat Brock Lesnar, winning by TKO in 2011. He's bounced around in the heavyweight division over the last few years, but was on a four-fight win streak heading into his title fight.
Miocic hadn't lost since 2014 heading into his first title defense, and he'll keep on rolling from here.
