Son of three-time Pro Bowler favoring six schools, all of them better than dad's alma mater ·

Patrick Surtain Jr. is the son of the three-time Pro Bowler with the same name —- without the same suffix of course —- who played for the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in his career. While the elder Surtain earned himself some Pro Bowl nods and was an All-Pro twice, he did not get the kind of attention his son is heading to college.

Surtain Sr. went to Southern Mississippi and was drafted in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft. His son has a chance to do even better than that if he can live up to the hype of being the top cornerback in the class of 2018 according to 247Sports.

The 6'2", 181-pound CB is the new prototypical size for a cornerback and he's got some heavy hitters named as his top schools that all churn out great secondary players at the next level. He spoke to Gridiron Now about his choices and they all seems to make pretty good sense.

"I'm still waiting to commit," Surtain told Gridiron Now. "I do have a couple schools in mind — LSU, Alabama, Florida, Clemson, Florida State and Ohio State. Those are the top schools I favor."

247Sports is predicting a 91 percent chance for the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native to land with LSU and a nine percent chance to land with the in-state Seminoles. He also holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Louisville, Georgia, Notre Dame and Tennessee among plenty of others.

Surtain helped lead American Heritage to a 14-0 record and the Class 5A Florida state title in 2016 while being coached by his dad who played in the NFL for a decade.
