There's been a ton of controversy surrounding Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the days following the loss in Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos. He got slammed for walking out on the post game presser, and he was also criticized heavily for not falling on a fumble late in the fourth quarter of the game. Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark, whose team lost to the Panthers in the NFC Divisional Round last month, is the latest to criticize Newton for not diving on the fumble. He went on a rant while watching Newton avoid the dive — warning his language is not safe for work.

Yikes. Newton addressed the fumble during media availability on the Tuesday after the loss, and claimed he didn't fall on it because of, I kid you not, the way his leg was positioned on the play.

"I didn't dive on one fumble because the way my leg was (positioned)," Newton told reporters via USA Today. "It could have been contorted in a way. You say my effort? I didn't dive down. I fumbled - that's fine. That's fine. We didn't lose the game because of that fumble."

Likely story, Cam. I'm sure Clark would have some sort of reaction to this "reasoning" from Newton as well.
