Former WWE superstar Santino Marella was expected to never wrestle again after undergoing surgery on his neck for the third time in 2014.
Marella announced his retirement on July 6 at a house show in his real-life hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, two months prior to the procedure.
On Sunday, the former Intercontinental Champion was given one more chance to perform in the squared circle.
Marella wrestled his final match alongside fellow former WWE superstar Chavo Guerrero Jr. in a tag-team bout against RJ City and Johnny Playboy for Destiny World Wrestling.
Following the match, Marella gave a "farewell speech" to the live crowd in which he mentioned his surgically repaired neck. He went on to add that his daughter was in attendance for the event and that "this is probably it" for his in-ring career.
Marella spent 10 years with WWE dating back to his developmental run in Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2005 and his main roster debut in 2007, which saw him defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental title in his first match.
Marella, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, remained a mainstay as a comedic babyface wrestler for the majority of his final years with the company and also won the United States Championship and tag team titles alongside Vladimir Kozlov.
