The San Diego State Aztecs are not exactly known as a football powerhouse, but with how good their new uniforms are, I'm not sure that matters.
The Aztecs paid homage to their mascots namesake and incorporated a drawing of the Aztec calendar on both their helmet and their jerseys.
From the university's press release:
San Diego State unveiled its new football uniforms for the 2015 season on Tuesday. SDSU will don a one-of-a-kind helmet design to go along with a new home-and-away uniform set both of which feature the Aztec Calendar. The calendar was used by the Aztecs and is a piece of Mexican history dating back to the 1400s.
The attention to detail here is awesome and the calendar design fits in perfectly with the rest of the uniform. Of course, few teams have something historic like this that they can fall back on, but it is a great display by San Diego State to find something completely unique to fit into their jerseys.
