This coaching change could prove to have a big effect on college football... in a few years, that is.
Four-star quarterback Tanner McKee is currently ranked as the No. 3 pro-passer in the nation, and he has several top schools chasing him right now: The likes of Alabama, Texas, Stanford, and Texas A&M are all interested, even though McKee might now arrive until 2020, as he is currently planning to take a two-year mission trip before college as part of his devotion to the Church of the Latter Days Saints.
With the Mormon Church involved, one would think that BYU would be a contender for McKee, but it looks like a coaching change the Cougars made recent could prove to be pivotal in McKee's recruitment.
In a interview with the Desert News, BYU's ouster of offensive coordinator Ty Detmer "absolutely" affected his recruitment. That said, McKee was firm that BYU was still a part of his recruitment.
"BYU isn't off the list," McKee said. "No one is."
Stanford is currently considered the leader for McKee; the Cardinal have all 100-percent of the predictions at the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
