Five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. is in the middle of his recruiting process and he has not wavered on when he will make his decision. It turns out that might benefit Florida State as they are still without a head coach after Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M. Surtain spoke with Rivals about his recruitment and said this about his top five schools:
"It's all tied up. I actually had a recent in-home visit [with LSU coach Corey Raymond]. He just told me how much of a valuable asset I'd be for them. We went over the cornerback situation."
He also said that "it's not over with them at all" speaking about the Seminoles. "I still like Florida State. I'm still considering them. Whatever coach comes next, I'm going to give him a look."
That is looking like it might be current Oregon coach Willie Taggart as reports indicate that he is working on a deal with the school. However, it's not a done deal and hasn't been announced yet either.
Surtain's top schools include Florida State, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Miami and Ohio State. The 6-foot-2, 183-pound cornerback is ranked as the No. 6 overall recruit in the class of 2018 and the top player at his position as well as in the state of Florida according to Rivals.
