The NFL Draft has seen its fair share of great stories with James Conner getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as the team getting an excellent representative of college football in Josh Dobbs. It's also seen some bizarre stories in Dede Westbrook reportedly getting kicked out of an NFL Combine interview and then him weakly refuting that charge.

It seems we have another strange turn of events with the drafting of former Florida defensive lineman Caleb Brantley. He was supposed to be a mid-round pick, but a recent charge of misdemeanor battery where the 6'3", 307-pound defender is accused of punching a woman in the face, knocking her unconscious and jarring a tooth loose, according to a Gainesville, Fla., police report. Apparently it was bad enough that a coach from the school thought he didn't deserve to get drafted and might have tried to sabotage him:

Brantley was drafted in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns and it sounds like the GM of the Browns is already considering dropping him if things don't check out.

It's not often you hear about a school or a player's coach potentially sabotaging him in the NFL Draft —- that's usually left for the player themselves or a malicious agent to do —- so this will definitely be something to keep an eye on.
