After the kind of rookie season Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Dak Prescott had last year — a rookie season that culminated with a No. 1 seed in the NFC Playoffs — one would think that most if not all NFL analysts and writers would have crowned the former Mississippi State star as the next franchise quarterback for Jerry Jones' squad.
That's not the case, though, as ESPN's Dan Graziano explained in a piece Thursday why Prescott may not be under center for the Cowboys for the next decade.

"There is nothing about Dak Prescott's first season to discourage confidence, other than the size of the sample," Graziano wrote. "There is no reason to fear a Prescott tail-off, other than the history that tells us to pump the brakes. After 16 games, Robert Griffin III looked like a sure thing. After 13 games with Chip Kelly, Nick Foles looked like the quarterback of Eagles fans' dreams."
Graziano does point out some good, recent examples of quarterbacks who burst onto the scene for their respective teams before flaming out — Griffin and Foles being two obvious examples that he points out — but those aren't entirely fair comparisons.
Prescott, for one, doesn't seem to have any long-term injury questions like Griffin. However, Foles is a bit more interesting, as both were not pegged as starters coming into the NFL, but flourished in a particular scheme that fit their skillsets.
Still, the Cowboys are loaded on offense and figure to be for the foreseeable future. Prescott doesn't have to do it all with the o-line the Cowboys have, Dez Bryant out wide, and Ezekiel Elliott behind him.
