
The New York Jets had to make some adjustments with their running game with a key injury. Jet running back Bernard Pierce was placed on the injured reserve list after a hamstring injury started nagging him during training camp. With Pierce moved there, the Jets announced on Tuesday that they have signed former Atlanta Falcons running back Antone Smith.
Smith, coming out of Florida State, signed with the Detriot Lions in 2009 as an undrafted free agent. Entering his seventh NFL season, Smith appeared in five games with the Chicago Bears last season. He spent his first five credited NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons,
Pierce appeared in seven games last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars after spending his first three pro seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He has rushed for 1,345 yards and 5 TDs on his 359 career attempts.
