Alabama's new offensive coordinator reportedly spurned an offer from another powerhouse

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide have not had much trouble sustaining success in recent years and that, of course, is evidenced by the most recent national championship. With that said, Saban has endured a revolving door of offensive coordinators and another opening emerged when Brian Daboll fled to the Buffalo Bills.

With that said, Saban has endured a revolving door of offensive coordinators and another opening emerged when Brian Daboll fled to the Buffalo Bills.

Following that move, Saban moved relatively quickly to tab co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Mike Locksley as the program's new leader on offense and he is an established force in the football world. To that end, Locksley actually had at least one additional offer, as Chris Low of ESPN reports that he had the opportunity to land in Tallahassee on Willie Taggart's staff.

Nick Saban has decided to promote Mike Locksley to offensive coordinator/QBs coach, sources tell ESPN. Locksley becomes the third former head coach to call offensive plays for the Tide under Saban. Locksley also had a chance to go to Florida State.

Locksley, who is 48 years old, will also be taking over as Alabama's quarterbacks coach (as noted above) and he has plenty of experience on the sideline. Prior to arriving as an offensive analyst at Alabama in 2016, he spent time as the New Mexico head coach before serving on the staff at Maryland.

While Locksley is not necessarily a household name in the way that Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian were under Saban, that might actually be a desirable thing and, if nothing else, the Tide are once again set up for big-time success.
