The New England Patriots finished another season atop the AFC East and that means coach Bill Belichick may be losing some assistants as his coaching cabinet is about to get raided. One of his assistants in Matt Patricia will definitely be one of the more popular names out there as Adam Schefter suggests:

However, there may be one thing that could cost him a head coaching job according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. He believes that the Roger Goodell clown shirt incident could eventually cost him a head coaching job.
But it's not all about Xs and Os or being able to thrive in the fundamentally different position of head coach. The "hard look" at Patricia undoubtedly will look into whether Commissioner Roger Goodell remains upset about Patricia's decision to exit the plane after Super Bowl 51 wearing the Barstool T-shirt with an image of Goodell sporting a clown nose.
At the very least, Sports Illustrated senior writer Jenny Vrentas believes it could keep him from getting the Giants head coaching job that's open.
Matt Patricia will have the chance to do a lot of interviews over the bye week, and deservedly so, but I have a hard time seeing John Mara hiring a head coach who wore a Goodell clown T-shirt.

And even months after Patricia wore the shirt off the plane, commissioner Goodell was reportedly still upset about it. While Patricia has been a great assistant coach, his funny antics off the field may ultimately be his downfall should he not end up getting a head coaching job with anyone.
