Allen was actively trying to tell media outlets that he paid a prominent college athlete for some signed memorabilia. Once it came out that Todd Gurley was the athlete Allen was talking about, he was suspended on Oct. 9.
Allen, through his attorney Ed Garland, said he paid Gurley $400 for the signed merchandise. He told WSB-TV in Atlanta that he wants the running back to get back to playing. On Wednesday, Georgia applied for Gurley's reinstatement. The school is still waiting to hear from the NCAA on the case.
Georgia faces Florida in Jacksonville on Nov. 1.
