When you’re done fantasizing about having a body as perfect as Apollo’s in Rocky III have a listen to perhaps one of his best lines of the movie: “There is no tomorrow.” While Rocky III consisted of an endless barrage of unintentionally hilarious lines and plots (“Hey Rocky, come meet the boys”) this was one line that has actually stuck with me through the years. It’s about as simple a line as they come but is a perfect motto to live by.
“There is no tomorrow.” It’s not much different than “Carpe Diem” only it’s a little more modern. But again, if you can get past Apollo’s rippling muscles and stunningly short green shorts, you’ll hear him belt out this line.
It’s Monday and it’s 5:30am. I implore all of you to tackle today like there’s no tomorrow because as Louden Swain says in Vision Quest “when you get down to it, there isn’t.” What are you going to do today? Who are you going to impact? How are you going to be proud of yourself? Will you be able to look yourself in the eye tonight knowing that you did everything possible today?
OK I can’t stop staring at Apollo.
