Three members of the UCLA men's basketball team have been reportedly arrested in China for shoplifting, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN. Freshman LiAngelo Ball, the brother of Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball, was reportedly one of the players arrested during the incident.
In addition to Ball, freshman Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were also arrested for shoplifting. The Bruins are in China this week to play Georgia Tech on Friday night in the teams' regular-season opener.
It was reported earlier Tuesday morning by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that three Georgia Tech players were questioned and then released by Chinese police in an unknown matter. It was later determined that the three Georgia Tech players were not involved in the activities being investigated, the school said in a statement.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that police investigated a cargo compartment on the UCLA team bus Tuesday morning, but did not have any other details of the investigation available.
"We are aware of a situation involving UCLA student-athletes in Hangzhou, China," UCLA announced in a statement. "The University is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter, and we have no further comment at this time."
It's unclear at this time what these players allegedly stole, but the trio could face a potential punishment from the school if found guilty.
