In a strange twist, Jerry Montgomery is heading back to the Green Bay Packers after only being with the Texas A&M Aggies for two weeks.
Confused? So is everyone else.
A&M brought Montgomery in on January 8 to be Jimbo Fisher's new associate head coach and defensive line coach. He was previously with the Green Bay Packers as a defensive front assistant from 2015-2017.
Now? Green Bay released its coaching staff for next season and it appears Montgomery left his post with the Aggies after only two weeks on the job.

Prior to Green Bay, Montgomery worked as a defensive line coach at Oklahoma, Michigan and Wyoming. Obviously, where he applied his trade before this situation isn't exactly the grabbing story.
This is good news for the Packers, who did some house cleaning after the season, but are certainly trying to appease Aaron Rodgers in all humanly possible ways.
As for Texas A&M, a press release is likely needed to help explain what in the heck just happened.
This does open up a few things for Fisher. He now has a spot to fill on the staff to get to 10 assistants. Given the timing of this, he might not get someone at Montgomery's level, but this shouldn't destroy the building of the program or anything.
