One of the most popular WWE performers from the past 20 years may be on his way back to the company.

Former WWE champion Rob Van Dam made some major hints on Friday that he may be returning to WWE soon. When Van Dam was asked if he would be performing at a show in Australia in June, Van Dam replied that he wouldn't be there, but that he might be in the country in August.

Nope but it looks like I'll be coming in August. https://t.co/iBBn2JMWlO

WWE generally tours Australia in the summer, with those tours coming in August in each of the past four years. However, when asked blatantly if it was with WWE, Van Dam deflected and said that he would have more info "soon".

Van Dam has had sporadic appearances with WWE over the past decade, and he most recently had a one-year run with the promotion between 2013 and 2014.

At his peak between 2001 and 2006, Van Dam was one of the most popular performers in all of WWE. In his time with the promotion, he is a one-time WWE champion, a six-time Intercontinental Champion, and a three-time tag team champion. Of course, Van Dam originally made his name in pro wrestling with ECW, being one of the company's featured performers from 1996 until their sale to WWE in 2001.
