Well this is quite the turn of events.

After medically retiring from football 15 months ago, former five-star recruit and No. 1 overall running back Thomas Tyner is heading from Oregon to Oregon State, per John Canzano of The Oregonian.

Tyner retired over a year ago after suffering multiple shoulder injuries that caused him to miss the entire 2015 season. Tyner was originally a standout for the Ducks, rushing for 711 yards and nine touchdowns behind quarterback Marcus Mariota in the backfield. Injuries plus the emergence of running back Royce Freeman limited Tyner's production in 2014, but he still had over 100 carries for an Oregon team that went to the College Football Playoff championship game.

Per the Oregonian, Tyner would not have been allowed to return to Oregon after his medical retirement. However, after sitting out two seasons, Tyner should be eligible to join Oregon State straight away.

Tyner, a five-star of the 2013 recruiting class, in on record for having run a 4.3 in the 40 yard dash. If he is able to complete the transfer, he will be a huge addition to an Oregon State team that could really use a player of his caliber.
