ESPNN has been going through some layoffs and has been forced to re-purpose and move around some of its remaining talent. One of those people getting some special treatment and is actually getting a bump up from his current job is Marty Smith. He made the announcement via Twitter:

If you followed college football at all this season then you recognize the name and his heavy southern accent as he followed Clemson seemingly everywhere in the 2016 season on its way to a national title. He also did several stories throughout the year on other teams and players. Now, he will get his own storytelling platform for ESPN that will allow him to tell stories from tons of different people from everywhere around the country.
Smith joined ESPN in 2006 and was the lead NASCAR reporter from 2007 until 2014 when he moved to focus more on college football as well as the NFL, college basketball and NBA.
