Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is a good cornerback, but he's certainly not good enough to exchange harsh words with his head coach and not suffer the repercussions.
Outside of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, perhaps no player in the NFL can get away with that.
Unfortunately for Rodgers-Cromartie, the repercussion of his heated exchange with New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo is that he has been suspended by the team.
According to reports, McAdoo and Rodgers-Cromartie got into it after the latter was pulled from New York's game this past Sunday. That conversation continued into Tuesday and even Wednesday, and it got so heated that the veteran cornerback actually left the Giants' practice facility on Wednesday.
McAdoo commented on the matter, per Jordan Raanan and Dan Graziano of ESPN.
"DRC came in [Tuesday]," McAdoo said. "We had a conversation that was personal upstairs and he came in [Wednesday]. Decided to leave. We will suspend him."
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com went in depth a bit further into the issue on Twitter, reporting that it had to do with Rodgers-Cromartie being pulled.

The issue between DRC and McAdoo and the coaches was never resolved Sunday. It continued today until the suspension and departure. Crazy.

According to ESPN, the issue between Rodgers-Cromartie and the Giants' coaching staff actually started last Friday when the corner walked out of a recovery session. During Sunday's game, a 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, Rodgers-Cromartie apparently slammed his helmet on the sideline and went to the locker room while the game was in progress. According to Raanan and Graziano, teammates and coaches of Rodgers-Cromartie felt that he left the game with the "intent to leave the stadium" but that did not happen. He returned to the Giants' bench during the game but wasn't available to the media afterward.
During a Wednesday meeting session, Rodgers-Cromartie reportedly cleaned out his locker before leaving the practice facility. He does plan on returning to the team, per the ESPN report.
