Dalvin Cook reminds scout of legendary Florida player and FSU fans probably won't mind

Dalvin Cook is one of the best running backs in the upcoming NFL Draft and that means scouts and NFL front office personnel are trying to find comparisons for him to other players current or retired. It seems some in the scouting community are even going so far as to compare him to a former Florida legend.

Former college football and NFL scout Chris Landry says (on his website) that Cook has similar attributes to Florida great Fred Taylor:

"There are those in the scouting community have compared Florida State RB Dalvin Cook to former Jacksonville Jaguars RB Fred Taylor. Taylor had elite, game-changing ability, and that is what separates Cook from the other backs in this class. He can turn the slightest crease into a big play, and he can contribute as a weapon in the passing game. He will have questions to answer regarding off-field concerns at the NFL Scouting Combine, but figures to put in some impressive results in the athletic testing portion of that equation."

That's some seriously high praise for Cook and surely some he won't mind receiving. Taylor is probably the second-best running back in Florida history behind NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith so it can't be all that bad getting that comparison. Granted, Dalvin Cook will go down as the best running back in FSU history, but that's neither here nor there. FSU fans will probably like hearing Cook and Taylor in the same sentence leading up to the NFL Draft in April.

Taylor lasted 14 years in the NFL —- mostly with the Jaguars —- and led the league in rushing yards per game one season 107.6 in 2000. He was named to the Pro Bowl once in 2007 and has 74 total touchdowns to his name. That production isn't too shabby.
