Cowboys exec takes huge shot at Cleveland Browns amid Romo controversy

Tony Romo might not be a member of the Dallas Cowboys for very much longer. The former Pro Bowl quarterback lost his job to rookie Dak Prescott in 2016 and, as a result, there is an ongoing saga as to whether the Cowboys will find a trade partner or simply be forced to release Romo before paying him a starter-worthy salary to simply act as a backup.

With that as the backdrop, a Cowboys executive made a comment on Romo's value to the franchise and, in the process, a shot was fired across the bow of the Cleveland Browns.

Cowboys exec on Romo: "There were seasons where, without him, we'd have been the Cleveland Browns and won two games."

It comes as no surprise that the Browns would be referenced in a negative way, simply because they are the NFL's whipping boy and have been for some time. In actual fact, this is probably accurate in that Romo was extremely valuable during his time in Dallas, even if it is some degree of hyperbole to suggest Dallas would've been quite as bad as Cleveland has been.

Browns fans will certainly not like this type of slander from another organization but, in a moment of honesty, it seems clear that everyone would quietly nod along with the sentiment that was intended by the comment.
