Byron Jones sets record for the broad jump at the NFL Combine

The NFL Combine features some of the world's best athletes each year running, jumping, and doing drills, but it's very rare for a world record to be set at the Combine. UCONN CB Byron Jones 12’3” broad jump would be a world record. Previous record of 3.71 meters (12’2”) has stood since 1968.

I mean, that's just insane. Jones is certainly the most impressive defensive back in the physical measurements with that record-breaking broad jump and a 44.5" vertical — also the best of the Combine this year.

The craziest thing...he's not even 100%. Jones won't run a 40 yard dash until his Pro Day on March 31 because he's still recovering from surgery and is still "getting up to speed," which is terrifying.

UConn CB Byron Jones, who jumped out of the gym, won’t run the 40 today. Still getting up to speed after surgery (really). Pro Day is 3/31

Jones is rated by most as a mid-round draft pick, but, with his good size — 6-foot-, 196 pounds — and crazy burst, if he lays down a good 40 time at his pro day he'll force teams to look more at his film and we could see him start marching up boards and land himself a second round draft position.
