According to AL.com, redshirt freshman offensive guard Richie Petitbon suffered a torn ACL in Alabama scrimmage on Saturday. The site is also reporting that Petitbon has already undergone surgery, meaning he will likely be out six to nine months recovery from the injury.

Petitbon was competing for a starting spot at guard, so even if he didn't win it, his injury still represents a big loss to Alabama's depth in their offensive line. The Crimson Tide usually have one of the top lines in the country, so there are other talents that can fill in, but no one likes to see a guy go down before the season even starts.

Petitbon is a former four-star recruit according to 247Sports. He was rated as the No. 65 overall recruit of the 2015 class.
