The Seattle Seahawks met with free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but the two sides couldn't reach a deal.

Instead, Pete Carroll opted to sign a quarterback who hasn't started a game since 2015.
The Seahawks signed free agent Austin Davis to a deal on Monday despite the fact that Davis has only started 10 games since 2012.

Kaepernick, who led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance, is still without a job.

The Seahawks released Jake Heaps before signing Davis, so Davis will compete with Trevone Boykin — a player with legal troubles — for the backup QB position. Boykin was arrested twice within an 11-day period on April, and there's been no word on whether he'll be disciplined by the NFL or the Seahawks.
Carroll said he believes Kaepernick is a starting quarterback in the NFL, which makes it more bizarre that he would prefer signing a career backup over Kap.
Davis has thrown for 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in his three-season career with the St. Louis Rams and the Cleveland Browns.
The Seahawks felt like one of the few realistic options for Kaepernick, so now the embattled QB will have to wait even longer before finding employment in the NFL.
And that's going to difficult. Despite the continued claims that Kaepernick is a starting caliber quarterback, one league executive admitted signing the man who spearhead the national anthem protests would be a very tough sell to fans.
