Anthony Bosch, the former owner of the South Florida clinic Biogenesis that supplied numerous performance-enhancing drugs to numerous athletes, was sentenced to four years in federal prison.
Bosch was hoping that his sentence would be reduced because he cooperated with the investigation. He is eligible for a reduced sentence for good behavior. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
Bosch pleaded guilty back in October for conspiracy to distribute testosterone to athletes. His most notable customer was New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez is supposed to meet with the media in the coming days to issue a public apology for his use of performance-enhancing drugs. He was suspended 211 games in 2014, but it was later reduced to 162 games.
Bosch's other customers were suspended along with Rodriguez. Twelve other players agreed to 50-game suspensions without the right to appeal: Antonio Bastardo, Everth Cabrera, Francisco Cervelli, Nelson Cruz, Fautino de los Santos, Sergio Escalona, Fernando Martínez, Jesús Montero, Jordan Norberto, Jhonny Peralta, César Puello, and Jordany Valdespin.
