Chaz Neal is probably not a name most recruitniks are familiar with unless you're a hardcore Florida State fan. Even then, it probably came as a surprise when 6'7" 253-pound defensive end Chaz Neal decided to commit to the Seminoles. The Seffner, Fla. native plays for Armwood High School and will lend his unique size to the Seminoles in 2018.
Josh Newberg of 247sports was able to catch up with the big athlete following his commitment and get a quote about his decision:
"Coach Lawing told me I am a good player, I get off the ball good, I can bend and he wants me at his school," Neal told Noles247. "When they told me they were offering me a scholarship as a defensive end, I took it and I committed."
"I feel good, I feel like this is home. I talked to coach Jimbo, he's a real cool guy, he's very inspiring and loves having me committed."
Neal doesn't currently have a ranking on 247Sports, but you can't teach size as they say. The FSU coaching staff will likely be able to teach Neal how to use his size though and hopefully to their great benefit. Neal also had offers from Maryland, Oregon, USC, South Carolina and USF.
Here are some of his highlights:
