"I would like to thank God for guiding me through this process and blessing me with these decisions. Thank you to my parents especially, for always supporting me in everything I do and being someone I can look up to. I appreciate every coach who has given me a chance to play for them and their school. My teammates, coaches, and teachers have all impacted my life immensely in some way and I am grateful. The program I have chosen is the right fit for me and is heading in a positive direction with pristine academics and an excellent coaching staff. I want to be a part of something great moving forward and truly develop, my teammates, and the community in Chapel Hill. I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to the University of North Carolina."

247sports listed Michigan as the heavy favorites to land him with a 65 percent Crystal Ball prediction. He took an unofficial visit to Michigan in mid-May.

Shough had offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Cal and South Carolina, among others.

Shough is a 6'5", 187-pound quarterback out of Chandler, Arizona.
