Four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro made some news when he decommitted from Wisconsin in October as the Badgers were thought to be a lock for his services. Now, he's headed a little south as he will join coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats as he told Scout.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard out of Greenfield, Wisc. is ranked as the No. 27 overall recruit in the country and No. 4 player at his position according to ESPN. He had other offers from Arizona, Florida, Indiana and Purdue among others. However, there wasn't an offer he thought was better than Kentucky's though.
"I pretty much knew right way," Herro told Scout. "I was looking at Oregon, that sounded like a good gig. Villanova had a good pitch too, but ultimately I knew where I wanted to go once I got that offer."
He only took a visit to Kentucky after his decommitment and apparently that was all it took. He also said that the ability to come in and contribute right away was a factor for him. And that's not surprising considering that the Wildcats will likely lose quite a few players to the NBA as they do at the end of each season.
