Two football players have been arrested on capital murder warrants and are being held in a Texas jail in connection with a fatal shooting in Ft. Worth.

Ryan Tyrell McBeth, 19, of Fort Worth and Dontrell Lamond Dock, 18, of Conroe, Tx., are each being held on $250,ooo bonds in the Taylor County jail. NBC 5 reported the players were arrested in connection with a Jan. 11 fatal shooting of a man in a Ft. Worth apartment complex.
There's an important distinction between murder and capital murder formal charges in Texas. Murder, under Penal Code § 19.02(b)(1), calls for a prison sentence of five to 99 years. Capital murder, under Penal Code § 19.03(a), calls for a sentence of life imprisonment or the death penalty.
McBeth, a defensive back, and Dock, a running back, play for McMurry University, a Division III program. The Ft. Worth Star Telegram reported that they were taken into custody, on campus, by the U.S. Marshall's Service, and that authorities are looking for one more suspect.
McMurry University released a statement to KTAB-TV that said: "McMurry University is aware of a reported incident involving three of its students and is cooperating with authorities. As the incident involves students' person educational records, we are not at liberty to discuss the matter further."
