Once again, we have a new No. 1 recruit in the nation for the 2018 class.
Five-star quarterback Justin Fields had taken over the No. 1 spot back in July in the 247Sports Composite rankings, but now the player he replaced has retaken the No. 1 spot; on Wednesday, 247Sports' new rankings showed five-star quarterback and Clemson commit Trevor Lawrence as the No. 1 player of the 2018 class.
Fields, who committed to Georgia after rising to the No. 1 spot in the rankings, only moves down one spot to the No. 2 position.
Lawrence (6-foot-6, 208 pounds, Cartersville, Ga.) hasn't been in the news a lot lately, as the five-star has held firm on his commitment to Clemson for almost a year now. Lawrence projects as a pro-style passer, as he has been lauded for his ability to make big throws.
So far, Lawrence is joined by No. 3 overall recruit Xavier Thomas as the top members of Clemson's 2018 recruiting class. That class has 11 commitments so far, and ranks 17th in the nation according to 247Sports.
