Plenty of people are calling the Golden State Warriors the new villains of the NBA with their acquisition of superstar and former MVP Kevin Durant. They are being anointed the new champions for 2017 despite not playing a single game together and there are several teams out there who would beg to differ on that one, the Cleveland Cavaliers in particular might be one of them.

For Durant, getting a nice new contract means it's time to roll out some shiny new shoes too. Naturally, they're gold and blue to represent his new team and they are more expensive than ever. Here's a look at them:

As if there wasn't enough to make former Durant fans angry, he made his new shoes almost twice as expensive as his last pair! They went up to $150 and of course Durant had to defend that action. This is the quote that proves he's gone into full villain mode though and has embraced the fact he will be hated everywhere outside of the Bay Area.

He's not wrong to say he's an elite player, but Stephon Marbury was an elite player at one point —- bare with me here —- and he had a popular shoe that was only $15. Was he as good as Durant? No way and he never was at any point in his career so it's not really a fair comparison. However, there's no reason a good pair of sneakers should cost that much and this is not going to win Durant any more fans.
