It appears that it may not been down to just Wisconsin and North Carolina for transfer quarterback Malik Zaire.
According to NDInsider, Baylor is making a late push for Zaire, who is reportedly set to make a transfer decision next week. This news comes as rumors that Baylor backup quarterback Zach Smith could be transferring away from the school, which is also sparse on recruits for 2017 thanks to the Art Briles scandal.
Baylor starting quarterback Seth Russell — who is currently injured — will graduate and exhaust his eligibility with the Bears after this season.

Despite that push, NDInsider says that Wisconsin is currently the favorite to land Zaire. Zaire may be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Russell Wilson, who really raised his NFL Draft profile in his one season at Wisconsin after transferring from N.C. State.
As a graduate transfer, Zaire will be eligible to play immediately in the 2017 season. He was granted an unconditional release and can transfer almost anywhere of his choosing.
Zaire, a former four-star recruit of the 2013 recruiting class, has thrown for 816 yards and six touchdowns in his Notre Dame career. Most notably, Zaire completely 31-of-37 (83.7-percent) passes in his two biggest starts against LSU in 2014 and Texas in 2015.
