RELATED: Trevor Knight lands at Texas A&M

Texas A&M did not expect to have a full on quarterback competition this spring, but a couple of transfers derailed that idea. Kyler Murray left the program and Kyle Allen transferred somewhere else in the state of Texas and that set in motion the transfer of Trevor Knight to the Aggies.
Knight was immediately eligible to play for the Aggies since he graduated from Oklahoma with a degree already by the time he wanted out. It seems he did enough in the spring game and in spring workouts to impress the staff and earn the starting job going into next season.

Usually coaches will wait to name a starter right before the season started, but with no other experienced starters on the roster, it made sense for Texas A&M to give Knight the starting gig and then challenge the rest of the QBs to try to take him down in summer workouts.
