If you think Tom Brady cheated in the AFC Championship game, then you also think the New England Patriots quarterback is a liar. Brady told owner Robert Kraft that he is innocent and had nothing to do with deflating footballs. Kraft even went as far to say that Brady has never lied to him before, even though the Wells report makes it pretty clear that the quarterback did have some knowledge about what was happening.
In a not so surprising development, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith said something stupid about this situation on First Take. Smith compared Brady to convicted killer Aaron Hernandez.
"Very uncomfortable to say, but it needs to be said. Aaron Hernandez told Robert Kraft he was innocent too," Smith said.
That logic is beyond stupid because he is saying that if you lie to someone then you're pretty much on the same level as a killer. Little kids lie all the time about meaningless things, so should we start comparing them to convicted murderers?
Knowing that he really messed up, or perhaps getting an earful from a producer, Smith backtracked on his comments.
"I'm not comparing Tom Brady to Aaron Hernandez. Please don't take that the wrong way," Smith said.
Too late.
