It's that time of year when everyone releases their top 25 schools lists and the Sporting News is no different. Theirs looks a little different from everyone else's though as the top four is a little shifted around. While Alabama still sits atop the pile, USC has made a surge to the No. 2 spot despite most other publications giving that designation to Florida State for a potential 1 vs 2 matchup in Week 1.

The list also includes a top-15 matchup with Michigan and Florida playing each other as well as some potential upsets with a much improved Maryland headed to No. 21 Texas and of course FSU playing Alabama in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
