Several reports are going around the pro wrestling community that former WWE tag team champions Epico and Primo Colon have requested their release from the company. This comes after a shirt for Orlando Colon — Epico's real name — appeared on Pro Wrestling Tees, a third-party merchandise website.
The website Super Luchas first reported the story.
Except in rare circumstances, WWE generally doesn't allow stars under contract to sell their own merchandise.
In WWE, the Colons are one-time tag team champions, and the two have generally been used as enhancement talents over the past two years. It has been five years since they won the tag titles, and WWE has attempted to restart the team several times under different gimmicks. Considering that WWE has a wealth of talent waiting in their NXT developmental program, it would make sense if the two parties wanted to go their separate ways.
