Oregon recruit decommits, could be heading to this recent national champ

Some bad news for the Oregon Ducks: they just lost one of their top recruits, as four-star cornerback Jared Mayden (6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Sachse, TX) announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he was decommitting from the program.

Thankful for everything Oregon has done for me. But I am decommiting. pic.twitter.com/29DZxhPHIj

This is a pretty big blow for Oregon's 2016 recruiting cycle, as Mayden is one of the top rated defensive recruits in the nation and was the Ducks' highest-rated recruit at 247Sports.

It is unclear if Mayden is still considering Oregon, but his potential alternatives include a couple of recent national title winners: Florida State and Ohio State. Mayden will be taking an official visit to Florida State on January 15, that visit could tell us a lot about where Mayden could be playing football in the future.
