The Cleveland Browns are imploding right in front of our eyes. If it is not head coach Freddie Kitchens, it's quarterback Baker Mayfield. If it's not a complete social media meltdown, it's a uniform violation. Sunday's game at the Denver Broncos certainly turned things from awful to even worse.
In the first half, Browns wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry wore custom cleats at Sports Authority Field in Colorado. No big deal, right? Wrong. The 17-12 halftime deficit was somehow the least of the team's worries.
According to multiple reports, the NFL told OBJ and Landry to change their cleats or else they would not be allowed to play in the second half. The NFL rulebook states: "a player may wear shoes that are black, white or any constitutional team color, or any combination of black, white and a constitutional team color."
Jay Feely reports the NFL told Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry to change their shoes at halftime or they won’t be allowed to play.

Having custom Nike cleats was apparently violated the league's uniform policy

Inspired by the box-office movie, "Joker," wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wore white cleats with a Joker face on each tongue. Some found them to be silly, and probably even more so after finding out they were illegal when the teams went to the locker room.
OBJ caught five passes for 87 yards in the 24-19 loss.
This, of course, is another slap on the wrist for OBJ after he got in trouble for wearing an expensive watch during the season opener.

Not to be outdone, Landry wore a pair of shiny gold cleats, which went against league rules. Despite catching six passes for 51 yards and a touchdown, the Pro Bowl wide receiver changed his cleats at halftime before returning to the sideline.
Perhaps the dynamic duo should stick some basic cleats next time.
