There are several mullets in college football, but there truly is only one Mike Gundy. The Oklahoma State head football coach reminded us all of that Monday during his weekly press conference.
Following the No. 24 Cowboys' 55-13 thrashing of South Alabama this past weekend, the veteran coach went in on his love for postgame smoothies and perhaps the need to put vodka in it. He then double-downed on the entire act to pull off his latest stunt to draw attention to his nationally ranked program ahead of Saturday afternoon's game against the No. 17 Boise State Broncos.
Claiming he "spilled his dang smoothie" on his gray Oklahoma State sweatshirt, Gundy removed it, only to be wearing a striped referee shirt to remind reporters and fans that the game at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma will be a stripe out.

"You'll know it's stripe the stadium and I've always supported the officials and referees. They're all good friends of mine," Gundy said. "So we are killing two birds with one stone. I'm glad I spilled my smoothie on my shirt."
Classic move. Classic zebra stripes. Classic Gundy.

This isn't the best Gundy press conference. Far from it. The "I'm a man. I'm 40!" rant is still an all-time classic, and will likely never get outdone, but the now 51-year-old head coach still has some good jokes.
If anything, he deserves some credit for being fully committed to providing as much exposure to the program, and is willing to do so in creative ways.
Having a full stadium striped out is one of the coolest-looking things in college football, especially when it is a big game, and you definitely know 60,000 fans will be all in for this one.
Gundy provided a perfect reminder for the event and that he still owns press conferences.
