Beyond that, Jim Harbaugh has refused, at least to this point, to release an official 2017 football roster to the public and that has made for quite a bit of intrigue and consternation from coast to coast.

Now, Michigan is making things even more interesting for the opener by doing something they have not done since the 1928 season. In short, they are wearing all-maize uniforms against the Gators.

There have already been plenty of jokes about Michigan's choice in attire, but CFB expert Brett McMurphy bridged the gap quite nicely.

Last time UM wore All-Maize was 1928 vs. Navy. Ironically UM also didn’t provide depth chart or announce starting QB before that game either https://t.co/17pGJvs36Q

Michigan's partnership with Jordan Brand (via Nike) has helped the athletic program to branch out to different audiences and the use of this type of flashy uniform should go a long way toward continuing that mission. In the end, the Wolverines' performance on the field against Florida (who is also wearing an alternate, all-blue uniform in the game) will be what matters from a national perspective, but Michigan is taking a leap in deploying a look that hasn't existed for nearly 90 years.
