The San Francisco 49ers still haven't won a game during the 2017 season, as the squad fell to 0-9 with a 10-point loss to the Arizona Cardinals this week. While the loss was no surprise given San Francisco's recent track record, there were some fireworks, as the game featured a scuffle that sent three players packing in the form of early ejections.
One such player was star 49ers running back Carlos Hyde, but San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan wasn't exactly miffed about Hyde getting run early. In fact, he loved what Hyde did and said this to the San Francisco Chronicle after the fact.
"I really loved how he went and got our quarterback's back. ...I thought our quarterback had a couple of helmets to the head when he was in the pocket a few plays before. And then he ended up scrambling and sliding and he got one again. I think our players had had enough."
Hyde was engaged in physical confrontation in defense of his quarterback, C.J. Beathard, after he took a late hit in the fourth quarter. Hyde was far from the only player involved, but it speaks volumes that he would mix it up like that with the other team and Shanahan's insistence that his players "had enough" was probably accurate based on the video.
The Niners are struggling mightily but, on this day, Carlos Hyde clearly didn't bail on his team and his coach appreciated it.
