Jim Harbaugh appears to be going away from a long-standing Michigan tradition

On Sunday, Michigan released its training camp roster for the 2016 campaign and, well, the Wolverines have a relatively uninspiring group of players listed that will wear number one.

To be fair, Kekoa Crawford is better known as Dylan Crawford, and the four-star 2016 recruit enters Ann Arbor with very high expectations. However, it isn't as if Crawford is an off-the-charts talent along the lines of Michigan greats who previously wore the number, and this seems to be a changing of the guard in terms of Harbaugh's thinking.

Notably, the Wolverines boast two excellent returning wide receivers, with both Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh garnering attention as All-Big Ten talents prior to the 2016 season. Neither have been linked with a jersey number switch before the 2016 campaign, and even if Crawford overachieves as a true freshman, it is hard to believe that he would be given the duty to carry the legacy associated with the number one.

Harbaugh isn't exactly shy when it comes to changing things up, but in the same breath, he is a "Michigan man" through and through. This latest change won't sit well with everyone in Ann Arbor, but given the profile that he brings to the table, Harbaugh can certainly get away with this move in a way that Brady Hoke or Rich Rodriguez simply could not.
