Days after Jay Cutler announced he is joining Fox as an NFL color commentator, he offered some advice for his former team.
During an appearance on ESPN 1000's Waddle and Silvy Show, Cutler said the Chicago Bears should avoid playing quarterback Mitchell Trubisky if the team gets off to a bad start.
"If it's going downhill, there is no way I'm playing him," Cutler said. "For what? So he can go out there and take a beating and get off to a rough start as an NFL quarterback?"

The Bears traded up one spot and drafted Trubisky with the No. 2 overall pick despite signing Mike Glennon to a deal in the offseason.
Cutler went on to say how difficult it is for a young quarterback to enter the NFL and lead a team right from the start.
Russell Wilson and Ben Roethlisberger were able to do so because they landed on teams with great defenses, and they weren't asked to do too much because they had veteran teams.
The Bears, on the other hand, are a very young and inexperienced team, and Cutler said they shouldn't put Trubisky in a bad situation just because the team starts the season poorly.
It was surprising to hear Cutler offer that advice since he started five games for the Denver Broncos as a rookie, but it actually makes sense for the Bears if they don't want their franchise QB to struggle early on in his career.
