If one Group of 5 team hopes to maintain its pseudo-powerhouse status, then it made some groundwork on that this weekend with some recruiting.
On Friday, Scout four-star running back Kelan Walker (6-foot-0, 205 pounds, DeSoto, Tex.) spurned others when he announced his commitment to Houston.

With Tom Herman leaving in the offseason for Texas, it will be important for new head coach Major Applewhite to maintain some recruiting basis that had been left for him in order to keep the school on top of the Group of 5. While it's only one commit, a running back the caliber of Walker is a good start for the 2018 recruiting class.
