What a redemption story!
Drew McIntyre is a former WWE Intercontinental and tag team champion, but he was release a few years ago after the company had nothing for him. During his time away, McIntyre — going under his real name Drew Galloway — lit up the independent scene, putting on some of the best matches in the industry.
Now, having returned to WWE, McIntyre is NXT Champion, as he beat Bobby Roode for the title at Saturday's NXT TakeOver show in Brooklyn.

McIntyre won the title after kicking out of Roode's finishing move, the Glorious DDT. Roode hit a second DDT after the kickout, but McIntyre reversed a third attempt and was able to hit his finisher, the Claymore Kick, for the second time to score the pinfall.
Unfortunately for McIntyre, his celebration was cut short in the exact same manner that SAnitY's tag title celebration ended: interference from reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly), only this time assisted by debuting free agent Adam Cole.

Cole is a former Ring of Honor champion, and it appears he has joined forces with former Ring of Honor champs Fish and O'Reilly in WWE.
